The current Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) Regulations require that safety signs must:
- Be sited effectively
- Use current design criteria
- Be well maintained
- Have a guaranteed supply of emergency power
Are you positive all your signs meet the above criteria?
Ensuring your site is signed correctly and meets its legal obligations is not always a simple task and can be time consuming but, nevertheless, it is a responsibility that must be met.
We can arrange a convenient date and time for one of our Technical Consultants to visit your premises. Once our consultant is briefed as to which areas, if not all, require a safety sign survey, they will conduct a full survey, leaving you free to get on with your day. Once the survey is complete, our consultant will prepare a report which will be emailed to you detailing the survey’s findings. In the event that some areas will need to be addressed, the items that your site requires will be detailed to ensure your organisation and site complies with the regulations.
Our Technical Consultants have many years' experience in dealing with safety signage and the relevant regulations surrounding this area. When completing a survey they will:
- Ensure that the agreed signs are in accordance with current regulations and
standards.
- Make sure all signs are uniform and unified in both format and intended
message, and that these signs are unambiguous and instantly understood.
- Consider who is likely to use the building and how familiar they will be with
that building.
- Strive to recommend the optimum use of signs to provide the most effective
amount of information, rather then simply placing as many signs as possible.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order makes a number of demands regarding your fire safety signage. The RRO states:
14.
(a) emergency routes and exits must lead as directly as possible to a place of safety;
(g) emergency routes and exits must be indicated by signs;
13.
b) any non-automatic fire fighting equipment so provided is easily accessible, simple to use and indicated by signs.
Better safe than sorry! We can help.
