Hazard Signs
Hazard Signs are used to advise employees and visitors of potential danger or harm. These signs are recognisable as black text on a yellow background and read “Warning,” “Danger” or “Caution.” They also contain additional text relating to the nature of the potential hazard. Any alternative to this design is not acceptable under current legislation relating to health & safety signage (Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1st April 1996).
Hazard signs are used in a variety of environments where there is or may be a danger present. These include kitchen areas within offices, factory environments, workshops, building sites, schools, petrol stations and so on.
The different types of hazard signs are explained in more detail below:
Danger Signs
Danger signs are used to warn of high level risk, and generally relate to immediate hazards, which can result in death or serious injury or harm to any individual failing to follow correct procedures. Examples include signs showing voltages, cables, mains and electricity, men at work, excavations, sudden drops etc.
Warning Signs
Warning Signs are used to warn of medium level risk. These advise of situations, that if ignored, can be particularly dangerous and result in serious injury or harm. Examples of warning signs include, electric fence, sudden drop, hazardous area, fragile roof etc.
Caution Signs
Caution signs indicate hazards of low-level risk that can lead to minor or moderate injury. These include very hot water, trip hazards; mind your head, automatic door etc.
Multi Hazard Signs
We also supply a range of Multi Hazard Signs, which display the type of hazard present, along with an instruction or instructions as to the correct procedure/s to be used to eliminate the danger for a particular area.
Our signage is available in rigid PVC and self-adhesive vinyl. Self-adhesive vinyl signs are made for indoor use and must be fixed to a smooth non-porous surface. Rigid plastic signs can be used both internally and externally. Many warning signs are also available in Braille & Tactile materials, and some of our signs are available in a multi lingual format.
