Although first aid posters are not a legal requirement, they provide excellent support to first aiders during emergency situations. First aiders update their first aid training every three years. However a real emergency situation can be very stressful and the correct procedures for treatment may be difficult to remember. A first aider is responsible for any assistance they give until the emergency services arrive and as such find the posters to be very useful as a refresher.

Posters are typically displayed either within a first aid room or near to first aid equipment. Or if there are specific high-risk areas within a building, such as areas where chemicals are used, then it is beneficial to position relevant posters next to where they may be needed.

Posters for children are generally used within school or play area environments including sports centres, schools and nurseries.

Other posters are generally used within the workplace in government buildings, offices, warehouses, factories etc.
